Too Much of a Good Thing

I have loved the food here, but when I realized that my clothes weren't fitting me after just a week and a half of staying here, I knew that I had loved the food a little too much during our stay.  I will wait a week or two before stepping on the scale--I don't even want to know how much I have gained.

This second week has been a little harder than the first.  Jackson threw up on the table of the hotel's nice Italian restaurant.  It had carpet under the table, so as you can imagine, it was pretty gross.  I was so embarrassed.  We tried to scoop up a lot of the mess with the fancy napkins which, by the way, are not very absorbent.  They hadn't brought our food out yet, so I said, "Um, our kid threw up, so we will get that to go."   Jackson threw up again this morning.  We still have to eat out for our meals, so I will just get takeout for the rest of today.  I can't leave the kids alone, so I just try to go pick up food when Jackson seems to be ok, and cross my fingers that he won't puke on the way down to get the food.  He didn't have an episode when we went to get breakfast.

The other awkward thing is not being able to do our laundry.  We have been doing it at Josh & Jodi's house, which has been perfect.  But when somebody wets their pants or throws up on their clothes, it is harder to know what to do because we only have a three-day supply of everything.  I can't just let it stink up the hotel room, and I worry that hand-washing it in the sink with their fancy moisturizing hotel soap just won't to the job in terms of killing whatever is living in the puke and urine.  Ew.

I had the scrumptuous gluten-free pancakes for like the eighth time today, but today I just felt guilty eating them again instead of just enjoying them.  Maybe tomorrow I will just have a muffin.  Hmmm.

We check out tomorrow.  It will be bittersweet.  I will be happy to not have to worry about keeping our kids quiet, being able to do laundry at will (or stick dirty things in a hamper in the closet), I will be happy to go back to eating one big meal each day and small meals or snacks for the other two, and I will be glad to be back into a routine and closer to Maxwell's preschool (I drove an hour each way to drop Maxwell off at preschool Monday through Wednesday).  I have been making my kids eat in the marble landing when we get takeout so they won't wipe greasy hands on the nice furniture--it will be nice to have them sit at the table again.

I will miss having a housekeeper, several chefs, and the berry-infused water in the hallways.  I will miss the waterpark, having TV (we have a TV, but no cable or any channels), and having a really comfortable bed. I will miss having tantrum-free meals (because each child can eat a different entree of their choosing).  I will also miss their scrumptiously scented bathrooms--they smell like berries & citrus--but not like gross cleaning products.

But this 2-week vacation, has become too much of a good thing, so overall I am happy to be going home tomorrow.
